High blood pressure — or hypertension— is often called the "silent killer" because it doesn't have symptoms, so many people don't know they have it, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.  Luckily, more American adults are aware if they have high blood pressure and are taking medication to control it, and the percentage of people with this condition is holding steady according to the CDC.
