Most of us are aware of the importance of Vitamin D, and study after study shows how many ways we are affected by a deficiency. Research has recently found that Vitamin D may be associated with a lower risk of developing stress fractures in preadolescent and adolescent girls, especially those who participate in high-impact activities. Vitamin D, in this case, may play as important of a role, if not more so, than calcium.
Also, according to a study of female patients at an Australian nursing home, the majority of the patients were Vitamin D deficient. There was found to be an association between the deficiency and mortality, and the deficiency and fractures.
Find out more about these studies on Vitamin D and make sure to attend a 9Health Fair this spring to have your Vitamin D level checked. You should be able to get the care you need to stay healthy without unpredictable costs. 9Health Fair provides an entry point to health with free and low-cost screenings. Find a 9Health Fair near you and mark your calendar.
