More healthcare providers are telling their patients to get out and exercise. According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, from 2000 to 2010, the percentage of adults receiving advice to exercise from their physician or other healthcare providers rose about 10 points. The benefits of exercising are huge when it comes to reducing the risk of chronic health conditions, but as a society, we are slipping in that important area.
